Stanford Gymnastics has finally officially announced the signing of five outstanding student-athletes for the class of 2008. Joining the Cardinal next season with Stephanie will be Lauren Elmore, Alexandra Pintchouk, Elizabeth Tricase and Tabitha Yim. Congratulations Stephanie!

After finishing her recruiting trips to colleges, Stephanie is extremely exchited to announce that she has made her college decision and will join the Stanford University gymnastics team next fall! Way to go Stephanie!

Following her performance today at the US Cellular Arena in Milwaukee, Stephanie placed 23rd in the all-around competition to total 69.550 points. The event was won by Courtney Kupets with Tasha Schwikert and Stephanie's teammate Hollie Vise shareing the second place. The top three all-arounders were automatically named to the 2003 World Championships Team. Stephanie started the night on bars, performing a giant-full to Tkatchev, having a rhythm break on low bar and finishing the routine with a tuck full-in dismount for a 8.275. Next came beam for a 8.200 with a total two falls on her punch front and switch side leap and a floor routine for a 8.700. Stephanie finished the competition strongly on vault where she performed more difficult vault, Yurchenko double full, for a 8.900. Congratulations on a great job Stephanie!

For the past week country's best gymnasts have been gathered in Milwaukee to contest the 2003 USA Championships. For the senior elite gymnasts, this event has doubled as the first trial for selection onto USA's World Championship team. The Competition got underway tonight with Stephanie contesting the senior all-around prelims and event finals. Stephanie who is currently sitting in the tied 19th postition with a 35.475, started the competition earning a 8.875 on vault for her nice Yurchenko full, following it up with a solid performance on bars, beautiful Stalder work, giant-full to Tkatchev and a great form on double layout dismount despite a small step, for a 8.750 and a spectacular beam set for a 9.350. A fall from the floor in the second tumbling pass, a whip to triple full, robbed her of a higher finish. Competition continues on Saturday with the all-around final. Goodluck Stephanie!

Despite being already pre-qualified for the USA Champiobships scheduled for June, Stephanie took part in the second qualifier, the US Classic, this weekend in San Antonio, Texas. Competing the senior event, Stephanie had a few problems on the events but still managed to finish 20th all-around. Stephanie began the competition on bars with a 8.825. She then scored 8.150 on beam with a fall on her switch ring leap and overrotated double tuck dismount, 8.575 on floor, 8.950 on vault. Courtney Kupets won the competition. Nicole Harris and Terin Humphrey finished second and third, respectively.

Stephanie competed at last Saturday evening's International Gymnastics Hall of Fame Classic in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, winning a gold medal on vault. She performed a beautiful Yurchenko full, but took a frightening fall off beam. Stephanie missed her foot on her back handspring, back handspring, double tuck dismount and crashed to the mat on her head. She scratched floor exercise because of a sore neck, but is doing fine now. Congratulations on winning the gold medal on vault Stephanie!

Stephanie traveled to Burlington, Massachusetts to compete in the American Classic, the first qualifier for athletes into the 2003 USA Championships. Performing a sold competition for an eleventh place all-around with a 35.325, Stephanie scored 8.775 on vault, 8.650 on bars, 9.150 on beam and 8.750 on floor and qualified to her second USA Championships! Congratulations on a great competition Stephanie!
The American Classic also featured an unique team event on the second day of competition which showcased the top competitors from the previous day. Stephanie had a good competition, earing the eight best all-around total 34.700. She scored 8.875 on vault, 8.775 on bars, 9.000 on beam and 8.050 on floor. Stephanie and her teammates took part of the recent National Podium Meet, an event run in conjunction with the big international invitational, the American Cup. Competing the international senior event, Stephanie finished 16th all-around with a 34.150. She scored 9.000 on vault, 7.950 on bars, 8.600 on beam and 8.600 on floor. Stephanie's teammate Nina Kim won the competition, Terin Humphrey placed second and Hollie Vise third.

Stephanie had a great night at the annual Parkette Invitational held this evening in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She hit all four of her routines to take second place earning an all-around score of 38.500 in the 15 years catagory behind WOGA teammate Carly Patterson. Sarah Shire from GAGE won the bronze medal. In addition to her all-around medal Steph also won the gold medal on vault with a 9.775, where she performed two nice Yurchenko fulls, took silver on beam with a 9.575 and bronze on floor with a 9.650. She just missed a medal on the uneven bars finishing fourth place with Sarah Shire scoring 9.500! Congratulations on a great competition Stephanie!

Stephanie had a great debut in senior elite competition at the WOGA Elite Qualifier portion of the WOGA Classic held in Plano, Texas this past weekend placing second all-around and qualifing to international senior elite with a 35.650! A teammate Megan Dowlen won the competition and Stephanie Lim from Texas Star placed third. Stephanie also finished third place on vault where she performed two solid full twisting Yurchenkos, second place on uneven bars with an upgraded routine, tied third place on balance beam with Stephanie Lim despite a fall on her front aerial and first place on floor exercise, where she debuted her newly choreographed floor routine to the Spanish music. Stephanie recently traveled to Europe with a contingent of gymnasts from World Olympic Gymnastics Academy for three invitational meets in France, Ukraine and Russia. At the Tournoi International de la Ville d'Arques in France on December 6-7, the WOGA gymnasts won the team competition. Individually Stephanie finished tenth in all-around at the junior level and sixth on the balance beam.
After competing in France, a smaller group from WOGA including Stephanie travelled to Donetsk in the Ukraine to compete in the Golden Lily Tournament on December 14. Stephanie competed well to finish in sixth place all-around with a score of 33.350. Her performance was highlighted with particularly strong routines on the vault and uneven bars. Teammates Lindsey Vanden Eykel and Meghan Blair finished in fifth and eight place respectively. The WOGA team next travelled to the Russian capital Moscow for 2002 Mikhail Voronin Cup held at the famed Dynamo Gymnastics Club December 17-19. Stephanie improved her all around total from the Golden Lily Tournament by more than a full point to 34.500 earning herself eight place all-around at the senior level. This performance also qualified Stephanie to two event finals uneven bars and balance beam. Stephanie had a great day in the events finals earning fourth place on the bars and sharing the gold medal on the balance beam with Russian Anna Pavlova after being rewared with a 9.700! Stephanie took part in the second USA Champiobships qualifier, the US Classic, in Virgina Beach, Virgina. Competing the junior event, Stephanie didn't have a good meet and finished 25th all-around with a 31.975. Her best event was balance beam where she finished the routine with a double tuck and earned a 8.700, despite a fall and placed eleventh on that event overall. The meet was won by Stephanie's teammates Carly Patterson with Hollie Vise and Nastia Liukin picking up the minor medals.

Stephanie contacted us to let us know that her surgery went very well and she is already looking forward to a speedy recovery. She doesn't remember anything of the procedure and apart from feeling a little drowsy and sore, she is fine and the procedure looks to have been a great success. She is looking to be back in full training in a month. She will keep you posted on her progress! Stephanie's father has left the following message regarding Stephanie's injury and upcoming surgery: "Steph will be having elbow surgery on Friday, 1/25/02. She will spend about two months in recovery/limited training. After that, hopefully she will return to full training and be ready for national competitions this summer. Steph has spent the past nine months trying to rest/rehabilitate this injury. We look forward to her complete recovery and return to competition." - Tim Gentry.

After a difficult second half of 2001 in which Steph struggled with injuries she has returned to competition with a bang in 2002! At the first meet of the year, hosted by WOGA, Stephanie has picked up two individual medals in the junior international elite catagory of the WOGA Classic. She unveiled a new vault and performed a great routine on beam to take the silver medal on both events. Stephanie did not compete on the uneven bars so was not in contention for all-around honors. It has been many months in between updates on Stephanie's site but as you can see Stephanie and everyone involved in her website have been working hard on completely refurbishing the site. We all hope you enjoy the new look and the new features that have been added to the site. Stephanie's last meet was the Go For It Classic held in Las Vegas, Nevada couple of weeks ago. Stephanie had a great competition placing second in the elite all-around competition with a 37.375! A teammate Nikki Childs won the event. In the open division event finals Stephanie finished third on vault with a 9.725, seventh on uneven bars with a 9.200 and twelfth on floor exercise with a 8.400. Congratulations Stephanie!

Stephanie began her 2001 competition season this weekend at the WOGA Classic held in Plano, Texas. Stephanie performed really well finishing finishing sixth on vault with a 9.350 and seventh all-around with a 36.500 at a junior level. Stephanie's teammates swept the junior all-around awards. Kaitlin White won the all-around title with a 37.825 while Hollie Vise and Carly Patterson tied for the second place with a 37.600. Russia claimed the team title with a 114.825, WOGA came in second place with a 114.225 and Australia finished third with a 105.175.

Stephanie recently traveled to France with gymnasts Kaitlin White, Lindsey Vanden Eykel, Terin Humphrey, Chellsie Memmel and Ashley Postell to represented the USA for the first time at a dual meet against France. The United States team won the competition with a score of 183.888. France came in second with a 177.125. Stephanie also placed eight all-around with a 35.175. She scored 8.850 on vault, 8.900 on bars, 9.025 on beam and 8.400 on floor. Teammates Terin Humphrey and Chellsie Memmel placed first and second all-around respectively, while French Marion Mourier was third.

Following her performance today at the Kiel Center in St. Louis, Stephanie was named as meber of the USA Junior National team for the first time! Apart from a fall during flip flop layout series on beam, Stephanie performed solidly to improve her position in the standings to tenth position overall, scoring 69.537. She scored 8.425 on vault, 8.900 on uneven bars, 8.650 on balance beam and 8.750 on floor exercise. Kristal Uzelac of Parkettes claimed her second junior national all-around title, Terin Humphrey was second and Tabitha Yim finished third. Congratulations on a great competition Stephanie!

Competition got underway today at the US Championships today with Stephanie contesting the junior all-around prelims and event finals. Stephanie who is currently sitting in twelfth postition, started the competition with a solid performances on beam with one small step on her dismount, earning a 8.800 for eight place and floor, earning a 8.975 for another tied eight place. Her best event was uneven bars where she placed seventh with a stuck double layout for a 9.250. A fall on her second vault, Yurchenko tuck, in the third rotation robbed her of a higher finish. Stephanie joined the best junior international elite gymnasts in America for the US Classic held at Tulsa, Oklahoma. The event acted as the only qualifying meet for the USA Championships. Despite some small problems, Stephanie still performed really well and earned the seventh best all around total 35.312 and in the process qualified to compete in her first USA Championship. She scored 8.562 on vault from her layout Yurchenko, 8.900 on bars where she fared with a high Tkatchev done with impeccable form, 8.900 on beam with a small balance check on her legs together layout and a bigger glitch later in the routine and 8.950 on floor where she bounced out of her triple twist dismount. Parkette's Kristal Uzelac won the competition followed by Ashley Postell and Carly Patterson placed second and third respectively. Congratulations Stephanie on a great competition!
